Survey of 30,000 homes in Texas
Dear Friends of ccAdvertising,
ccAdvertising recently completed a statewide survey to 30,000 homes in Texas regarding the upcoming Republican Gubernatorial primary. The homes used were from ccAdvertising's nationwide database of landline and mobile phones and were distributed evenly by population density per nine digit zip code. 3,803 homes answered one or more questions for this survey.
The results show that in the Republican primary race for Governor of Texas, incumbent Governor Rick Perry carries a 24-point lead over Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison among likely Republican primary voters This lead shrinks to 11% when all respondents are considered in the results.
The results also show that in a hypothetical General Election between either Governor Rick Perry or Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and presumed Democratic candidate Bill White, both candidates hold a strong lead over White with Perry ahead by 23-points and Hutchison ahead by 26-points.
Amongst respondents that identify themselves as supporters of the Tea Party movement, Governor Perry commands a 38-point lead over Hutchison.
A 50% majority is needed to avoid a run-off election. Traditionally, a large majority of undecided voters choose challengers over incumbents because the electorate already knows the incumbent. When looking at total respondents, this may be a factor in this Primary race.
