ccAdvertising Survey in Texas - October 12th, 2010 |

On Tuesday, October 12th, 2010, ccAdvertising completed surveys to landline and mobile phones in Texas regarding several competitive political races in the state. ccAdvertising examined voter preferences on the Governor and Congressional races in Texas's 17th, 23rd and 27th districts. *Please see the attached PDF for more detailed breakouts and information on each of the races.

Texas - Statewide (Perry-R +14.25%) |

In the race for Governor, incumbent Republican Rick Perry has a 14.25% lead over Democrat Bill White. Perry received the support of 49.82% of respondents while White received 35.57% and 14.61% were undecided.
President Obama's favorability rating stands at 37.74%.
When asked party identification, 45.61% of respondents are Republican, 25.43% are Democrat and 28.96% are Independent.
In addition, the survey measured voters' preferences on recent national issues. Support of the Tea Party movement is at 25.65% while 63.26% believe that Congress should repeal the healthcare bill, 69.35% of respondents are pro-life, 76.53% are traditional marriage supporters and 77.08% are Second Amendment supporters.
Demographically, of all the survey respondents asked, 47.58% are male and 67.42% are 50 years of age or older. 1,510 respondents participated in this survey. The margin of error is +/-3%.

Texas - 17th Congressional District - (Flores-R +11.06%) |

In the race for Congress, Republican Bill Flores has a 11.06% lead over incumbent Democrat Chet Edwards. Flores received the support of 47.42% of respondents while Edwards received 36.36% and 16.22% were undecided.
President Obama's favorability rating stands at 32.22%.
When asked party identification, 45.15% of respondents are Republican, 23.00% are Democrat and 31.84% are Independent.
In addition, the survey measured voters' preferences on recent national issues. Support of the Tea Party movement is at 26.29% while 68.09% believe that Congress should repeal the healthcare bill, 72.40% of respondents are pro-life, 78.11% are traditional marriage supporters and 82.61% are Second Amendment supporters.
Demographically, of all the survey respondents asked, 46.03% are male and 66.50% are 50 years of age or older. 2,085 respondents participated in this survey. The margin of error is +/-3%.

Texas - 23rd Congressional District (Canseco-R +10.93%) |

In the race for Congress, Republican Francisco Canseco has a 10.93% lead over Democrat Ciro Rodriguez. Canseco received the support of 42.71% of respondents while Rodriguez received 31.78% and 25.51% were undecided.
President Obama's favorability rating stands at 29.81%.
When asked party identification, 44.90% of respondents are Republican, 28.12% are Democrat and 26.98% are Independent.
In addition, the survey measured voters' preferences on recent national issues. Support of the Tea Party movement is at 26.45% while 67.63% believe that Congress should repeal the healthcare bill, 72.81% of respondents are pro-life, 79.55% are traditional marriage supporters and 78.57% are Second Amendment supporters.
Demographically, of all the survey respondents asked, 47.15% are male and 64.94% are 50 years of age or older. 2,215 respondents participated in this survey. The margin of error is +/-3%.

Texas - 27th Congressional District - (Farenthold-R +9.89%) |

In the race for Congress, Republican Blake Farenthold has a 9.89% lead over incumbent Democrat Solomon Ortiz. Farenthold received the support of 44.98% of respondents while Smith received 35.09% and 19.94% were undecided.
President Obama's favorability rating stands at 34.94%.
When asked party identification, 38.42% of respondents are Republican, 31.62% are Democrat and 29.96% are Independent.
In addition, the survey measured voters' preferences on recent national issues. Support of the Tea Party movement is at 24.00% while 59.79% believe that Congress should repeal the healthcare bill, 65.28% of respondents are pro-life, 73.86% are traditional marriage supporters and 72.77% are Second Amendment supporters.
Demographically, of all the survey respondents asked, 39.95% are male and 73.79% are 50 years of age or older. 1,122 respondents participated in this survey. The margin of error is +/-3%.
