ccAdvertising Survey in West Virginia - October 15th, 2010 |

On Friday, October 15, 2010, ccAdvertising completed surveys to landline and mobile phones in West Virginia regarding several competitive political races in the state. ccAdvertising examined voter preferences on the U.S. Senate Special Election and Congressional races in West Virginia's 1st and 3rd districts. *Please see the attached PDF for more detailed breakouts and information on each of the races.

Statewide Survey of West Virginia (Manchin-D +3.25%) |

In the race for the U.S. Senate Special Election, Democrat Joe Manchin has a 3.25% lead over Republican John Raese. Manchin received the support of 43.06% of respondents while Raese received 39.81% and 17.13% were undecided.
President Obama's favorability rating stands at 37.00%.
When asked party identification, 39.26% of respondents are Republican, 38.93% are Democrat and 21.81% are Independent.
In addition, the survey measured voters' preferences on recent national issues. Support of the Tea Party movement is at 24.56% while 66.08% believe that Congress should repeal the healthcare bill, 73.69% of respondents are pro-life, 80.06% are traditional marriage supporters and 86.27% are Second Amendment supporters.
Demographically, of all the survey respondents asked, 44.86% are male and 62.64% are 50 years of age or older. 1,696 respondents participated in this survey. The margin of error is +/-3%.

West Virgina's 1st Congressional District (McKinley-R +6.39%) |

In the race for Congress, Republican David McKinley has a 6.39% lead over Democrat Mike Oliverio. McKinley received the support of 41.28% of respondents while Oliverio received 34.89% and 23.83% were undecided.
President Obama's favorability rating stands at 40.89%.
When asked party identification, 39.65% of respondents are Republican, 37.73% are Democrat and 22.62% are Independent.
In addition, the survey measured voters' preferences on recent national issues. Support of the Tea Party movement is at 25.41% while 63.51% believe that Congress should repeal the healthcare bill, 68.65% of respondents are pro-life, 77.21% are traditional marriage supporters and 82.16% are Second Amendment supporters.
Demographically, of all the survey respondents asked, 47.25% are male and 61.90% are 50 years of age or older. 2,033 respondents participated in this survey. The margin of error is +/-3%.

West Virginia's 3rd Congressional District (Rahall-D +3.62%) |

In the race for Congress, incumbent Democrat Nick Rahall has a 3.62% lead over Republican Spike Maynard. Rahall received the support of 40.08% of respondents while Maynard received 36.46% and 23.46% were undecided.
President Obama's favorability rating stands at 39.56%.
When asked party identification, 34.32% of respondents are Republican, 44.62% are Democrat and 21.07% are Independent.
In addition, the survey measured voters' preferences on recent national issues. Support of the Tea Party movement is at 25.23% while 66.61% believe that Congress should repeal the healthcare bill, 72.96% of respondents are pro-life, 81.74% are traditional marriage supporters and 86.51% are Second Amendment supporters.
Demographically, of all the survey respondents asked, 52.36% are male and 62.88% are 50 years of age or older. 1,864 respondents participated in this survey. The margin of error is +/-3%.
