President Obama vs. Republican Candidates in 2012 |

ccAdvertising has initiated a series of nationwide surveys to both landline and mobile phones regarding possible general election showdowns between President Barack Obama and a Republican candidate for President in 2012. These surveys will be conducted over the next few weeks and their purpose is to monitor the amount of support for each possible Republican candidate.
This survey was conducted immediately following the Tucson, Arizona shooting incident that wounded Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and killed 6 of her Constituents.

On January 10, 2011, ccAdvertising completed surveys asking respondents which candidate they would support if the race was between President Barack Obama and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
If the November 2012 election were held today and the candidates for President were President Barack Obama or New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, 42.88% of respondents indicated that they would vote for President Barack Obama, while 38.00% indicated that they would vote for Governor Chris Christie and 19.12% of respondents would not vote for either candidate.
When asked party identification, 42.99% of respondents are Republican, 34.04% are Democrat and 22.98% are Independent.
The responses to the survey reflect 78.92% of registered Republicans "self-identified" as Republicans, whereas only 72.40% of registered Democrats "self-identified" as Democrats, producing a statistical difference of 6.52%.
In addition, the survey measured voters' preferences on other important issues. 32.80% of respondents considered themselves members of the Tea Party Movement, while 50.20% believe that Congress should repeal the healthcare bill, 77.28% of respondents do not want their taxes raised, 59.49% are pro-life, 64.84% are traditional marriage supporters and 63.71% are Second Amendment supporters.
Demographically, of all the survey respondents asked, 42.31% are male and 65.73% are 50 years of age or older. 13,585 people participated in this survey. The margin of error is +/-3%
ccAdvertising also examined the results in the states that vote first in the Presidential primary calendar:
In Iowa, 43.89% of respondents would vote for President Obama, while only 35.56% of respondents would vote for Governor Christie and 20.56% would not vote for either candidate.
In New Hampshire, 43.14% of respondents would vote for President Obama, while only 27.45% would vote for Governor Christie and 29.41% would not vote for either candidate.
In South Carolina, 43.72% of respondents would vote for Governor Christie, while only 35.52% would vote for Governor Christie and 20.77% would not vote for either candidate.
